Monday night I had dinner with an old friend. We were discussing the Miles Franklin Report and Andy Hoffman’s new Rant and he said, “There is just too much information for me to read. I don’t have the time.” Hogwash! It’s not a matter of “not enough time,” it’s a matter of what each of you chose to prioritize. How many of you “do not have enough time” to read our material but find the time to read the sports page or read a book or watch Criminal Minds or Judge Judy? There is always enough time for what we deem most important.
What amazes me is that the most important thing you can spend your time on (besides your family and your job) is your financial future – in a world gone crazy. Yet so often I hear, “I don’t have the time to read your newsletter, it’s too long.” Well, if that’s the way you feel then it’s your loss, not mine. I spend at least five or six hours every day reading and writing this newsletter for YOU. I am up every night between 1 and 4 a.m. writing for YOU. And you don’t have 20 minutes to spare to read about the most important and current issues that impact your future and perhaps even your financial survival?
How many of you sit in front of your TV and watch Cramer and the clowns on CNBC? I know a lot of my friends do – not for entertainment but for their views on the economy. But they do not have time to read the Miles Franklin Report and Andy Hoffman’s Rants. Given a choice between the best information possible or the crap from the media, where do we fit in your daily schedule?
The trouble is that this newsletter is FREE. Since it is free, many of you treat casually. Free or not, I believe it is the best concentration of excellent information available at any price, let alone for free. Where else can you read the wisdom of Ranting Andy Hoffman, Richard Russell, Jim Sinclair, Jim Willie, John Williams, Gerald Celente, Bill Murphy, Roger Wiegand, Bob Chapman, The Aden Sisters, Ed Steer, David Morgan, Ted Butler, James Turk, Eric Sprott and many others for free, every day. I spend countless hours and a lot of my hard earned money gathering this information together for you and give it to you for free. I ask nothing in return but it would be nice if you at least check out Miles Franklin when you decide to buy precious metals because we really are the best firm in the business, offering you beyond first-class service, pricing, delivery, storage options and the best trained, most experienced and most down to earth, no-pressure brokers in the industry.
I am not patting myself on the back – everything I have just written is the absolute truth. I created Miles Franklin in the image of the way I wanted to be treated when I purchased gold and silver. And the result is rewarding – we have as fine a reputation in the industry as anyone, and are head and shoulders better than most of the companies we compete against. Andy Hoffman never would have agreed to come on board if he did not feel exactly the same way about us. His joining up with us is as strong an endorsement of who we are and what we are all about as I can find. Andy is a very particular kind of guy – a no-nonsense, tell it like it is force in our industry. He IS Miles Franklin personified. The two Andy’s – Andy Schectman and Andy Hoffman are the best of the up and coming stars in this industry. And they both are honest, sincere and care deeply about our clients. I am blessed to have both of them on board.
Add to that, Joel Kravitz. Joel is a “think outside the box” type who has come up with innovative programs for us that are totally unique in the industry. Joel and my son Andy grew up together, two blocks apart. In less than 18 months, Joel launched Miles Franklin onto EBay where we became their number one seller. This was all Joel’s doing, as is our industry-setting offshore storage program in Canada. We are fortunate to have such tremendous fresh-thinking talent working here at Miles Franklin.
And if you want to experience a real treat, work with Kathie, Bob, Mike, Derek or Ross at our firm. Bob, Mike, Kathie and I started working together in 1983. I took them with me when I started Miles Franklin. My son Andy has been with me since the beginning, in 1990. I’ve known Ross since junior high school and Derek has been with me for nearly a decade. They are NOT run of the mill salespeople. I wouldn’t trade any of them for other firm’s “hot shots.” Miles Franklin is a firm I would buy from, if I wasn’t involved with it as the founder. That’s exactly the way I wanted it to be and so it is.
As an aside, we had our annual Christmas party last Saturday. More than a few of the staff were in tears. They know how fortunate they are to be a part of Miles Franklin. This is a very tight-knit group and they fully appreciate how lucky they are to work at a firm like Miles Franklin. We are a unique family-owned firm and we care about our people and our clients in a way few companies ever will.
Finally, for those of you who may have missed it – here is one of my favorite charts and after viewing it, see if you can find a reason why you SHOULDN’T be accumulating gold. Gold was a big winner in eight of the last ten years and nothing did well in 2008.
